Non-Executive Directors reappointed: Nigel Topping, Tania Songini, and Marianne Økland have been reappointed as Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) of the National Wealth Fund (NWF) by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury. The National Wealth Fund is crucial in channeling public finances into the UK's future. Over the next five years, it aims to mobilize more than £100 billion into the UK economy to support the government's growth ambitions. With the appointment of a new CEO, Olly Holbourn, and three new Non-Executive Directors last year, the NWF has published its five-year strategic plan, set to culminate in March 2026, and has entered a new phase of implementation. He has held top positions in UK manufacturing and has been pivotal in transitioning towards a net-zero carbon economy. As the UK’s High-Level Climate Action Champion for COP26, he continues to take on advisory roles in climate and energy, bringing strategic insights and a strong external network to the NWF Board. Tania Songini has vast experience in the energy sector, particularly in renewable power generation and distributed energy systems. With senior leadership roles within Siemens’ energy division across the UK and northwest Europe, she currently holds several non-executive roles throughout the energy industry. As Chair of the NWF Remuneration Committee, she aligns organizational objectives with shareholder interests, adding strong commercial and operational expertise to the Board. Marianne Økland brings extensive experience in banking and capital markets, having held senior roles at global financial firms like JP Morgan and UBS. She specializes in structuring and raising debt capital and handling complex financial transactions. Marianne also contributes significant technical knowledge of banking risk frameworks and economic capital, providing essential oversight as the NWF's portfolio expands in complexity and size. The current terms of the NEDs are set to expire in June 2026.
