The UK-GCC FTA represents a significant step in fulfilling the Government’s commitment to stimulate economic growth, aiming to enhance living standards across the UK. It is projected to contribute £3.7 billion annually to the economy in the long term, compared to predictions for 2040, alongside an increase of £1.9 billion a year in real wages. When paired with the India FTA, these agreements are expected to boost the UK’s GDP by over £8 billion each year. This landmark deal features an ambitious package for cutting tariffs, eliminating duties worth approximately £580 million annually on UK goods exported to the GCC once fully established, with £360 million worth of tariffs lifted immediately on day one. As the first trade agreement between the GCC and a G7 nation, it ensures UK firms secure access to growing opportunities across the Gulf region.
