Mahmood’s comments, which highlighted roughly 700 Albanian families in taxpayer-funded accommodation after unsuccessful asylum claims, were made alongside sweeping proposals to reform Britain’s asylum system. Rama responded sharply, emphasising that such a narrow focus risks perpetuating harmful stereotypes rather than contributing to genuine policy discussion.
