The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) Is calling for exceptional men and women from emergent nations with germane professional experience who have supported the developmental efforts of their counties, that are seeking for a postgraduate degree program on a development-related research topic
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is offering scholarships for 29 Preferred Programs ranging over numerous development topics and for 10 Programs in Partnership with universities in Japan, Europe, U.S and Africa. Research topics should be in curial areas of development, encompassing tax policy, economic & policy management, and infrastructural management contingent on black-ink items. The scholarship program is targeted at developing Member countries of World Bank.
Worth of Scholarship:
- The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship funds covers tuition, allowance for travel, monthly stipend, round-trip boarding pass, and health insurance.
Note:(JJ/WBGSP) scholarships cover the time frame two years or full length of the graduate program or (whichever is less).

The following eligibility criteria must met by the applicant:
Must be a citizen of a member country of World Bank
Must not be an applicant having dual Citizenship of developed countries
Applicant must not be staff, an Executive Director, or its alternate, or an appointee (contractors and consultants inclusive) of the World Bank Group (Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, The World Bank, International Development Association, International Center for Settlements of Investment Disputes, and International Finance Corporation); or not be an immediate relation of the above mentioned, either by adoption or by blood termed “close relative” defined as Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Half-brother, Half-sister, Daughter, Son, Uncle, Aunt, Nephew or Niece.
Must be a Bachelor’s degree holder or possess a corresponding university degree conferred not more than three years prior to the Application Deadline.
From the Application deadline within the last six years have been employed and paid for a minimum of three years on development-related employment since Bachelor’s degree (or corresponding degree) have been earned.
Must have gained unconditional admission (except for funding) abroad (not in his/her country of residence or citizenship) in one or more of the university master’s programs preferred by (JJ/WBGSP) -Check the JJ/WBGSP webpage for the listed program, Prior to the Deadline for Scholarship Application.
Application instructions:
For scholarships to one of the preferred master’s programs, you must first apply and be unconditionally accepted for admissions to one or more of the Preferred Program(s) to be considered for a JJ/WBGSP scholarship. The scholarship application is done online before 23 April 2021 by Noon, Washington D.C time (Eastern Standard Time/EST). In your application, YOU NEED TO UPLOAD AN UNCONDITIONAL LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE from a preferred master’s degree program.
The deadline for the scholarship application is on the 23 of April 2021, application for the scholarship is online. Applicants must foremost apply and are given unconditional admission to at least one of the university master’s program preferred by the JJ/WBGSP Scholarship, an Unconditional Letter of Acceptance from the university master’s program must be uploaded on your application. Portals will be closed by noon (East Standard Time/EST).
For scholarships to one of the partner master’s programs, you must apply for admission to one or more of the Partner Master’s Degree Program(s). Announcements from a JJWBGSP Partner Program on when to apply for admission to their program is often posted on the JJ/WBGSP official website. After reviewing submitted applications, each Partner Master Degree Program will identify a short list of eligible candidates who will then be invited by the JJ/WBGSP Secretariat to apply for a JJ/WBGSP scholarship. Inquiries on how to submit an admissions application to a partner program should be submitted to the respective university.
Applicant for the scholarship must have applied and gotten admission to one of the partner master’s program(s). All JJWBGSP partner scholarships are posted on their official website. Eligible candidates are shortlisted and notified of invitation by JJ/WBGSP secretariat after their application have been reviewed by each partner master degree program.
