The United Kingdom has recorded its first official prosecution under the newly implemented crossing law, targeting dangerous Channel crossings in small boats. Aman Naseri, an 18-year-old Afghan national, has been charged with endangering the lives of 46 people during a sea crossing without valid entry clearance. This incident occurred on January 5, 2026, the same day the Border Security, Asylum, and Immigration Act came into effect, marking the first Channel crossing of the year under the new legal framework.
