Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) Program 2021 For African Secondary School Students -Apply Now

YALE YOUNG AFRICAN SCHOLARS (YYAS) PROGRAM 2021 is a rigorous academic and enrichment program targeted at young African Secondary School students who have the zeal to further their education and make a leadership impact on the African continent.

The program will intensify the academic prowess of the participants and give them counseling on carrier path and university admission. The program will also connect the participants to a network of young leaders across Africa.

Due to the current global pandemic and to keep the participants’ safe YALE YOUNG AFRICAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM 2021 will be an online program. The seven-day virtual program which will start on 25th July 2021 to 31st July 2021 will use various online platforms to reach its participants. During the intensive non-tuition program, each student will be paired up with a mentor who will exhaustively advise them on the university admission process and carrier choice.

ELIGIBILITY FOR YALE YOUNG AFRICAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM 2021

Prospective applicants of the Yale Young African Scholars 2021 must be current secondary school students in African, who have a term to one year left to complete after August 2021. Should be between 14 to 18 years old. The applicants must also be citizens or permanent residents of an African country.

The Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) operates under the umbrella of the Yale Young Global Scholars and also a member of the HALI Access Network. It has been supported by The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International Studies at YALE and Higerlife foundation.

The Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) is a rigorous academic and enrichment program for excellent secondary school students across Africa.

(YYAS) will foster unity and groom leaders from various countries in the African continent

The participants of the (YYAS) program will obtain firsthand information on University admission processes, financial aid processes, attend college-style seminars presented by Yale University Students, and create a peer network across Africa

The students will be put through career counseling by mentors in their different fields of interest, viz; Arts, Technology, entrepreneurship, public health, etc.

The Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) has been running for eight years now and has served over 1600 students in more than 40 African countries. Due to the global pandemic, the YYAS 2021 will be held online. The participants will be able to access prerecorded videos, attend life sessions and seminars, also access curated leadership and development content during the event

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR YOUNG AFRICAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM 2021 BENEFITS

To apply for The Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) Program 2021, students must submit an online application that will contain an Essay and two short answer prompts. Applicants must upload an official school transcript or grade report and include the name and contact of a teacher who will have to fill an online recommendation form on their behalf.
