These scholarships are provided by the UK government and cover all full tuition fees, a monthly stipend of ÂŁ1,516, and other benefits to help you live comfortably in the UK.

The scholarships are intended for talented and motivated individuals who would not be able to afford to study in the UK. They offer 12 months of research at an institute in the UK for PhD scholars studying at eligible universities across the Commonwealth.

Here are the main details of the scholarship:

Host country: United Kingdom (UK)

Eligible countries: Commonwealth Nations

Reward: Full scholarship, ÂŁ1,516 per month stipend, family allowance

Deadline: March 2, 2023.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • Ensure your registration for a PhD program at a recognized university in an eligible Commonwealth country by September 2023. Anticipate the prospect of obtaining further PhD scholarships, and I’m delighted to provide you with the definitive guide to securing PhD funding opportunities.
  • Have an institutional or departmental link between your home university and your proposed UK university. Both supervisors must provide a supporting statement for this link
  • Be available to start your academic studies in the UK in September 2023
  • By September 2023, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honors standard or a lower second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)
  • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship

The scholarship provides approved airfare to and from the UK, full tuition fee coverage, a living allowance of ÂŁ1,236 per month or ÂŁ1,516 per month for those in the London metropolitan area, a generous clothing allowance if necessary, a study travel grant, and child allowance if you are a single parent or divorced/widowed and accompanied by your children.

The selection process takes into account academic merit, the quality of the study plan, and the potential impact on the candidate’s home country. To apply, you must use the CSC’s online application system by March 2, 2023. Make sure to apply to a UK university with a part-funding agreement with the CSC, and check the list of universities on the CSC website. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s best to apply as early as possible.
