Court of Protection general visitors have been appointed by the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), which includes 30 new appointments and 11 reappointments. These general visitors play an essential role in overseeing court-appointed deputies and are recognized as public appointees. Their responsibilities also encompass conducting mental capacity assessments, which are vital for investigations within the OPG’s framework. The new general visitors’ tenure began in October 2025 and is set to last for 10 years.
