Jason Bonander officially starts his position as the Chief Digital and Technology Officer (CDTO) of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) today, 27 May 2026. With more than 25 years of experience in technology leadership and health informatics, Jason Bonander brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. He previously held the position of Chief Information Officer at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he directed global technology operations, cybersecurity, public health informatics, and data-sharing strategies. MHRA Chair Professor Anthony Harnden expressed his enthusiasm, stating: "Jason's exceptional background in digital transformation and health technology makes him a tremendous addition to the MHRA. His leadership will be pivotal as we advance our systems and services to ensure quicker, more efficient regulation that benefits patients throughout the UK." Lawrence Tallon, Chief Executive of the MHRA, also shared his excitement: "I am delighted to welcome Jason Bonander as our new Chief Digital and Technology Officer. On his first day, Jason Bonander stated: "In my initial months, I aim to listen to my colleagues at the MHRA and engage with partners across the broader health and regulatory landscape.
