Deputy Prime Minister Moldova, thank you, Mr. Chair. We warmly welcome Deputy Prime Minister Chiveri to the Permanent Council and appreciate his remarks this morning. The United Kingdom remains a reliable and unwavering ally of Moldova as it progresses on its journey toward European integration. Last month, we had the privilege of hosting the fifth session of the UK-Moldova Strategic Dialogue in London. We commend the ongoing advancements your government has achieved in democratic reforms, the rule of law, and the safeguarding of fundamental rights. Furthermore, the UK acknowledges Moldova’s significant role in promoting regional security, particularly its support for Ukraine's safety. Deputy Prime Minister, the UK is pleased to see the resumption of in-person 1+1 meetings between Chief Negotiators in February and April. These gatherings are crucial steps in facilitating direct dialogue, which is essential for unlocking meaningful progress. We extend our gratitude to the OSCE Mission to Moldova for facilitating and moderating these discussions. We also welcome the heightened engagement of the Working Groups, as they serve as an effective platform for tackling issues impacting people's everyday lives. The United Kingdom encourages Chisinau and Tiraspol to continue their constructive and good faith engagement across all established formats, building on this renewed momentum. The UK greatly values the significant efforts of the OSCE Mission to Moldova regarding reintegration, particularly in supporting the implementation of measures agreed under the Berlin-plus package. These initiatives deliver tangible benefits for communities on both banks of the Nistru River. Practical cooperation on essential matters such as education, vehicle registration, and access to land is vital for building confidence and trust over time. We reiterate our long-standing concerns regarding the ongoing presence of Russian military forces in Transnistria, which undermines Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is crucial for these forces and associated ammunition stockpiles to be withdrawn unconditionally, in line with international commitments. Deputy Prime Minister, the United Kingdom is prepared to support further endeavors aimed at achieving a comprehensive, peaceful, and sustainable resolution that fully upholds the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders. We will continue to be a committed partner to Moldova as your nation advances democratic reforms and charts a path toward a European future. Thank you, Mr. Chair.
