U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced updated policy guidance for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petition process, citing sharp increases in filings and concerns about program misuse. The changes are reflected in Volume 3 of the USCIS Policy Manual and apply to all VAWA requests filed or pending on or after December 22, 2025.
