Trump immigration restrictions have significantly altered the landscape of legal immigration in the United States. In his February State of the Union speech, President Donald Trump claimed that while unauthorized border crossings were reduced to a minimum, “We will always allow people to come in legally, people that will love our country and will work hard to maintain our country.” However, at the same time, his administration tightened many visa pathways for workers and family members entering the U.S., causing the legal immigration system to slow dramatically.
