Novel Opening Chapter & Synopsis Competition

  • Host: novel Opening chapter and synopsis
  • Deadline: 31st-10-2021
  • Applicant entry fee: £10 for a novel, and £18 for two novels, £26 for three novels
  • Voluntary evaluation of one chapter and synopsis: £25/ story

The grant is for applicants that must have started or completed a written novel with strong, credible, and plausible characters. And a page-turning plot or have honed the first chapter can put together a compelling one-page synopsis of a maximum of 750 words for the story’s balance. Applicants are to enter with this work and have their work judged by headline publishing

All novelists coming in are all welcomed (published, self-published, and unpublished)

  • Gender Restrictions: No gender restrictions
  • Age Restrictions: No age restrictions

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants with an opening chapter up to 3,000 words
  • 1-page synopsis outlining the balance of the story
  • Submitted in a single file
  • Not eligible if your chapter is longer than 3,000 words
  • Applicants are to make a note at the end of the story, which will include the word count
