Applications for scholarships are being accepted by Washington County Fair for  2024 is now open. These include the Washington County Fair Scholarship, the WCFA Bucket Calf Mentor Scholarship and the WCFA Champion Drive Buddy Scholarship.

Applications for Scholarships are Being Accepted by Washington County Fair: What You Should Know.

The Washington County Fair Association aims to promote and encourage agriculture, horticulture, and home economics by presenting allied items with a major goal of supporting youth activities through education and scholarship. Because of our goal, we provide an annual scholarship program.

Scholarships are provided to exemplary local youngsters seeking a college degree each year. To be eligible for the scholarship program, youth must fill out and submit the online PDF form.

PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Guidelines of qualifications include:

  1. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen: At the time of application, applicants must Live in Washington County, Attend school at a Washington County school. If you are in Washington, you can visit any of these fun locations and have a great time! Be enrolled in an appropriately qualifying Home School Program, Be a Washington County 4-H member, or Be an FFA member that is enrolled, attend, and in good standing in a Washington County school that has an
  2. FFA chapter chartered: Applicant must have participated in a category of the Washington County Fair for two of the preceding four years.
  3. Applicants must include a one-page essay about the Fair’s influence on them.
  4. Applicant must include a letter of recommendation from a teacher or principal.
  5. The applicant must provide college entrance exam results and a copy of a high school transcript.
  6. Applicant must be a high school graduating candidate in the year of application and plan to attend an accredited school of higher education or professional training within five (5) years. Scholarships will be cancelled unless financed within five (5) years of the award date.
  7. The full application and any needed attachments must be submitted to qualify for this scholarship.
  8. Bucket Calf Mentors must complete the Bucket Calf Section to be nominated for that award.
  9. Champion Drive Buddies must complete the Champion Drive Section to be nominated for that award.
  10. Scholarship assessments may entail in-person interviews. Washington County Fair Inc. gives $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college students who have yet to win. Scholarship applications are given on Monday, Aug 21, at the Opening Ceremony of the Washington County Fair.
  11. You do not need to be present to claim your scholarship, although presence is advised if feasible; a parent may also take the award in your stead. Applications are due for consideration on Aug 1, 2023.
