Hereford Ukraine Friendship Pact Marks Historic Alliance

The Hereford Ukraine friendship pact has officially been signed between Hereford and the Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr, marking a significant milestone for both communities. This historic agreement was celebrated in an online ceremony held simultaneously in both cities on Tuesday, where dignitaries came together to sign the pact and share performances filled with song and dance. Lesley Grady from the Diocese of Hereford remarked, "This is the next step to cementing our friendship, our relationship, and our promise to support each other." Inna Protsiuk, involved in a community integration project, expressed her hopes that both communities could eventually blend together, possibly creating a physical community in the future. "We could become a part of your community, and you could become a part of ours," she stated. "Our children could study in your colleges, and your kids could have opportunities in ours. "But today, we have officially signed a friendship agreement between Hereford and Zhytomyr, which is an amazing historic moment," she shared. "For the last four years, our community network has developed strong ties since the war's outbreak." The ceremony was overseen by the mayors of both cities, Daniel Powell of Hereford and Halyna Shymanska of Zhytomyr. Powell expressed that, "This agreement signifies the start of a meaningful and lasting friendship between Hereford and Zhytomyr. In these times when unity is crucial, we are proud to stand alongside the people of Zhytomyr and Ukraine." Mayor Shymanska added, "We are eager to collaborate with our friends in Hereford, who have provided such a warm welcome and a safe haven for many Ukrainians fleeing war in their homeland."
