General Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants submission can take the form of poetry, prose, non-academic essays
  • Submission must be standalone and should not be extracted or gotten from a larger piece
  • Genres are permitted
  • Applicants must be maximum of 2500 words per entry
  • Limited to one entry per person
  • The text must not have been published already, being self-published, accepted for publication online, or have already been placed in another contest at any given time

Scholarship Value

  • a grant of £10,000 for each winner
  • presented by a poet, John Burnside
  • a grant of £3,000 cash price will be given to the second-ranking applicants
  • a grant of £2000 will be given to the third winner of the competition
  • furthermore, the top best two winners will be invited to attend the fjallnas seminar

According to the volume of applications, the decisions of the judges are final. No correspondence will be entered into following the result.

Submission will/can be judge by anyone, so applicants are expected not to place their name anywhere in their work
