Scotland population decline is on the horizon as new data indicates a significant decrease in international migration. The National Records of Scotland (NRS) had initially forecasted a steady increase in the population over the next 25 years, projecting it would reach 5.8 million by 2047. However, the latest updates show that the population may peak at 5.56 million in 2033, before declining to 5.47 million by 2049. This shift is primarily attributed to a decrease in migration from previously high levels.
